Health Care Informatics builds on the student's beginning computer skills and the student's knowledge from NR 530 Concepts and Theories, NR 532 and NR 533 the advanced research courses, and NR 555 Health Care Organization and Finance course. The student reviews and applies pertinent theory, learns advanced computer skill sets, is introduced to specific systems to assist with administrative decisions, and learns to use knowledge obtained from data queries in clinical decision-making. The current state of health information systems is discussed and the effect of technology on communication is explored.
